AUTOMATIC TEMPERATURE CONTROL IN WASHING MACHINE

It happen when I first interest at models from some brands of washing machine, and I noticed that some of the models in the different price range compares, but the one brand does not have temperature control, although the other one has and it has a high gap of price. I have read and doing research including interview in several places and some media social that automatic temperature control is important but I don't understand how exactly it works since both models seem to be giving controls in a same level to set the water temperature.

            From that opportunities I really interested in that matter and by all of the interviewed and research I got some information about Automatic Temperature Control (ATC) in washing machine. It usually has some levels :

•   Hot, warm and cold low medium and high

•  Low-(delicates)

• High-(towels and jeans).

These 3 manually adjustable wash parameters have been included on most upper-end machines since the 1960's. Than, today's machines try to automate these features at the expense of your intelligence. So that is the ATC used to the watching machine and also by the watching machine that use ATC technology means that the machine can mixes cold water, warm water and hot water alternatively to maintain the temperature selected. So, the hot water hose pumping water in the drum, it shuts off and then the cold water hose starts pumping in water, then it shuts off and both hot and cold pump in the water simultaneously depending on the temperature selection, that’s the some advantages of the washing machine that using ATC technology.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

This feature adjusts the water to the correct temperature for the cycle selected. Most machines mix hot and cold water in preset proportions. An automatic temperature control helps in opting for the correct temperature that is needed for that perfect wash.

Most washers rely on the incoming water temperature, but some clothes washers use thermostats to ensure that this temperature is proper. If water is coming in is either too cold or too hot, the appropriate valve will open to bring the water to an ideal temperature.

Automatic Temperature Control (ATC) technology designed by Frigidaire, is especially useful in cold climates when performing a cold wash cycle. Detergent requires a minimum water temperature of 65 degrees to activate cleaning enzymes. If the incoming water is too cold, Automatic Temperature Control opens the hot water valve to bring water temperature to 65 degrees. This is still a cold wash by garment industry standards but is at the minimum temperature needed to activate detergent enzymes for proper cleaning.
